Casting is a metal forming method where molten metal is poured into a mold. Investment casting is a form of casting that uses a wax or plastic pattern to create a mold by encasing the pattern in ceramic investment. The pattern is melted or burned out to create the mold. At Advanced Powder Products, Inc., we utilize centrifugal investment casting or spin casting which rotates the mold at high speed as the melted metal fills the mold. This enhances the metal filling characteristics allowing us to create small parts with detailed features. This technology is often used for dental and jewelry products as well as fine medical and industrial components. We have experience with stainless steel and titanium alloys. Our in-house injection molding capabilities allow us to create precision plastic patterns on-site.
